Miglia excels in engineering
Confined to a chair at age 15, Newcastle High School graduate Barry Miglia (Class of 1987) has faced challenges that most can hardly imagine, yet he continues to overcome adversity to accomplish more than most can ever dream. Miglia is an aerospace engineer for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids Iowa, a company that specializes in aviation and software solutions for companies around the globe. Even with his physical disability, Miglia has never let his accident control his life.
Miglia, who grew up in Newcastle, fell and broke his back while on a school field trip at Whoop Up Canyon. After his accident, Miglia spent the summers between his sophomore and senior year at the rehabilitation hospital in Denver where he gained perspective on his limitations. Miglia now maintains an attitude that he will never let his physical challenges get in his way.
