Dear Editor,
I guess it is time to talk common sense again since our politicians avoid truth like it was a plague. The United States Government has been running a health insurance program called Medicare quite successfully for years now. They have tested, functional policies and computer programs in place being run by competent, tested staff. All the glitches have been worked out years ago. It seems pretty reasonable to expand that program to cover the rest of us. Everybody I know who has used Medicare is glad that it was available to them.
Senators Barrasso and Enzi seem to have forgotten to whom they are responsible. They are advocating that “the rest of us” have no choice but to submit to the demands of the rapacious health insurance companies. Their exceedingly highly paid executives and consequently exceedingly high premiums are so high that many can not afford both of them and a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Unless one happens to be in the employment of the rip-off insurance companies, Bernie’s plan, Medicare for all, has got to be the best thing since sliced bread.
