A flood, caused by a break in a water main located in the second floor, at the Weston County Courthouse in November extensively damaged both the assessor’s office on the main floor and the space occupied by the county attorney’s office at the time. That space in the basement will be replaced by the circuit court, as the county attorney has relocated to the Weston County Annex.

There is hope that work may begin soon to repair the damage, as County Administrator Dan Blakeman and Architect Randy Hein opened bids last week for the project that has left the assessor without a proper place to operate for several months.

Blakeman told the county commissioners on Sept. 19 that only two bids were submitted for the project, and the low bid of $158,055 was submitted by Howard White Construction of Upton. Blakeman noted that the difference between the two bids was $4,900.
