Watershed study will allow access to government funds

For over a year now Weston County Natural Resource District Manager Lacey Sloan has been working to bring a watershed study to Weston County that will open up funding doors for landowners included in the study. She is excited because, with the completion of the level one Beaver Creek Watershed Study and one additional study, the entirety of Weston County will be covered by a current or existing watershed study.

Sloan and consultants from Olsson Associates, the consulting firm chosen to complete the study, will host a scoping meeting on June 27 at 5:00 p.m. at the Forest Service Building to introduce the study to landowners and get initial feedback from those in attendance. Meetings will continue to take place throughout the process to keep landowners and concerned individuals up-to-date on the project.

Sloan expressed her excitement for the project and the ability it gives interested parties to gain knowledge of the water resources throughout the area and the needs of landowners.
